It all started in the 1860s with a steam engine mounted on a velocipede in Paris, France. The first commerical built motorcycle was built by the German company Hildebrant & Wolfmüller in 1894. At the same time motorcyckles where built in England and one of the most famous manufacturers was the Excelsior Motor Company in Conventry who had their first production bike avaible for sale in 1896. In USA the first production bike came in 1898 from the company Orient-Aster.

Shortly after in England the first massproduction of motorbikes stared and companies like Royal Enfield, Norton and Triumph. At the same time in the US Indiand and Harley Davidson started their production and in Russia it was Rossyia. The english and US companies where the biggest manufacturers for many years until the Japanese manufacturers Suzuki, Yamaha and Kawasaki started to produce motorcycles during the 1950s.

Today the Japanese manufacturers dominate the market but companies like Harley-Davidson, Victory, BMW, Ducati, Triumph and many other build motorcycles with a lot of soul giving the rider more than just two wheels for the open road.
